Hello! I am Dr. Theresa Flowers, LCSW, a native of Nashville, Arkansas, and the owner/therapist of Seed of Faith Counseling & Services, LLC. I earned my Bachelors of Social Work from Philander Smith College, as well as a Masters of Social Work in Direct Practice with Mental Health Clients from the University of Texas at Arlington, in addition to a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from Adelphi University. I am a clinical therapist who has completed advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and brainspotting. Throughout my career as a therapist, I have served individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief, and other life transitions.
I have over 13 years of mental health experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings including secondary schools, universities, hospitals, community, and federal agencies. My goal is to meet people where they are and assist them in finding harmony, wholeness, and healing which will help them to lead healthy and happy lives.
In addition to my clinical experience, I am also quite familiar with teaching at the university level (BSW and MSW), conducting research, and providing academic advisement, in addition to public speaking, consulting, and training.

Seed of Faith was founded on the biblical principle that if you have faith the size of a mustard seed anything is possible. Dr. Flowers views therapy from the standpoint that all people can heal and change if they are willing to do the work, even when it’s uncomfortable. Oftentimes, people do not feel heard or may struggle to articulate their needs. SOF counseling seeks to serve as a place of refuge and a safe space for people to deal with challenges in their life.

WHAT IS COUNSELING?
This is a great fundamental question! In plain terms counseling is the process of assisting and guiding clients, by a trained person on a professional basis, to resolve especially personal, social, or psychological problems and difficulties. Folks can seek counseling for a range of reasons. Take a moment to check out Seed of Faith Counseling & Services for an extensive list of counseling services we offer.
DOES COUNSELING WORK?
This answer will vary to the individual and the commitment they are willing to put into therapy. Some people find that the process of explaining thoughts, feelings, goals, or circumstances to their therapist helps lead to clarity. Therapists can listen, provide feedback, observant, information, or a new perspective about what’s happening that can bring greater awareness or understanding to issues folks may be facing.
DO I NEED COUNSELING?
To simply answer your question, everyone needs counseling! However, its also important to understand the stigma that comes with going to therapy. Nevertheless, if you’re willing to do the work, therapy can be rewarding. It’s a safe, judgment-free space where you can share anything, with a trained professional who is there to help.
WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?
The intention of confidentiality is to protect your right to privacy by ensuring that things you discuss with a professional not be relayed to others without informed consent from you. Confidentiality gives you power and freedom in therapy to be in a judgment-free space. BUT there are limitations to confidentiality. The only time a professional can break confidentiality is when you are a danger to yourself, or someone else. Professionals also have a legal duty to warn.
